Bioshock Remastered 1 & 2 received new patches from 2K games almost a year after their release
Enables BioShock 2 to play the Minerva's Den DLC. Patch (Unnumbered) Released October 3, 2013 (PC) Added BioShock 2 and Minerva's Den to Steam. Collection Patch 1 Released October 6, 2016 (PC, BioShock and BioShock 2 Remastered) Fixes and features Field-Of-View is now adjustable from 75 to 130 in the Graphics Options Menu. Permissions and credits. If you played BioShock 2 Remastered, you may noticed that audio quality in some cutscenes are noticeably lower comparing to the original game. I've replaced that lossy compressed audio streams using better sources from the original BS2. Actually, BS2 RM have no such problem with compressed audio comparing to the BS1 RM. Massive patch for what seems to be a very very small list of changes (hell it hardly qualifies as a list). Will test Bio 2 remastered later and see if it fixed any of the random crashes I was getting. View Entire Discussion (22 Comments) More posts from the Bioshock community.
2K games released Bioshock Remastered 1 & 2 around a year ago. While it was nice to see the games modernized with a graphical overhaul, there were still problems on launch. Most of which were random crashes or the fun that they still hadn’t really fixed Bioshock 1’s controller issues.
In a Steam Post, 2K games have announced that: “Since the launch of BioShock: The Collection, we’ve heard from some of our players about issues some of you have encountered. We hear your feedback and have made several title updates – today, Dec. 5, we will be issuing a third update to PC. This patch addresses several crash and polish bugs, improves stability on some machines, and adds support for Simplified Chinese text localization.”
Well, it’s better late than never I suppose.
That being said, you may recently have seen that after 20 years Half-Life recently received a new patch.
So, what has been fixed?
It depends on which game you are playing. Bioshock 1 has been optimised to try and squeak a better performance out of lower-end machines and has received some crash bug repairs. Bioshock 2 is pretty much entirely crash fixes. Both games have also received improved Chinese localization.
With no shots fired in this patch, we may now have a reasonably smooth experience. It’s just a shame that probably no one is playing this anymore. Perhaps though the fix will get people back.
In fairness, when the remasters were produced, at least 2K game them for free to us PC gamers who already had them. So I can’t be entirely mean about it and for me, that is very unusual.
What do you think? A completely pointless patch? Is it better late than never? – Let us know in the comments!
